| Thursday night before the Memorial Day Weekend a hacker struck the server our site was on. I didn't find this out until the next day, the day before we were leaving for the East Coast for some real surf. It had been up all week and looked like it was going to stay that way for the weekend. While I was madly moving the site to a new server my phone rang, it was my daughter. After trying everything she could think of to get me away from my computer, she finally insisted that I drop everything and come to her place. When I arrived and closed the front door, I saw it. The Kingfish I have been wanting since I first saw it at Suncoast Surf Shop. An early Father's Day Present! Now, do I stay home for the weekend and run tests on the site knowing it will take three days for the new DNS info to be available, or go East with my new board. No Contest! We went and the board was everything I thought it would be. I caught the first wave I went for and it was like I had this board forever. There was no getting used to it, I already knew it, and it is fast. After we got back home I was so tired I wimped out and instead of making a new place to hang the board ( we hang them from the ceiling ) I slid it on top of the Bic, it looked fine for then. Then I tossed my rash guard on top of the boards where I usually keep it and CRASH, down came both boards. The Bic was ok but the Kingfish took a few real ugly dings. I was bummed for sure. The following Saturday repairs were made and you can barely see the dings, and it still rides as good as ever. It's not really a West Coast board but I can still get some rides on it here. Can't wait until the 4th of July, going back to the EC for some more good surf, I hope. |
