| paddled out at oceanside pier one winter morning so foggy you couldnt see more than 50ft., i paddled out behind my friend right next to the pier we got a little over half way out and he started to paddle away from the pier, i couldnt see him because of the fog,but just then i got sucked under the pier it was about ten ft. and pounding he didnt know i was under there but i was haveing to hang on to pilons when sets rolled through my board snapped durring the first set. my fingernails where cut in half, whenever i tried to swim away from the pier i would have to swim right back and hang on to pilons again, the waves would have just thrown me right into the pier if i hadent, ive been surfing 20 + years and this time i seriously thought this could be it. i was going from pilon to pilon to try the other side but no luck, this was 6am and no one could see me, finally after 20 min. i got a break and was able to ride the back piece of my board on my belly to shore was one of the scetchiest sessions ever. and the craziest thing this guy and his son came up to me right when i got out and he said hey could you tell my son how dangerous surfing is,bleeding broken board, i said it is so dagerous, i wouldnt surf near the pier or jetties for probebly 2 weeks. | |
